After Girls Camp, the Silver Pines Young Women were on a spiritual high, and were ready to take on the second part of the year. We started the second part of the year with a combined activity of Nerf Wars! The whole youth group had a blast. We wored glow in the dark necklaces, and played in the dard. The leaders even got in on the action, and Sister Solgere proved to be quite an expert with her machine nerf gun!
Of course, the treats (provided by the YW) were delicious! The following week was also a lot of fun, as we were invited to play Pioneer Games with the White Oak Ward. It's always fun to get to mix and mingle with other wards.
August was another wonderful month, althought we were very sad to see Sister Larmouth go. After having her sweet baby, she and her husband moved out of the ward. We have missed her greatly! She would have enjoyed our t-shirt tote making activity. The girls brought t-shirts and turned them into chic new handbags. I was really impressed with the artistic designs. Sister Posada shined with her "toddler t turned tote." I haven't seen her wear hers, but I have seen many of the girls wearing theirs around the town --even to some of our August activities--such as the pool party at the Rudolphs, our Daddy-Daughter party, and Back to School Pool Party with the stake! IT was sad to see summer go, especially having to say goodbye to our grads. We miss you Erin and Edie! Congrats to Erin for finishing her Personal Progress!!!!
We kicked off fall by kicking up our heels at the Rudolph Home. The Rudolphs cleared out their entire living room to provide a dance hall and dance studio. Sister Rudolph taught the YM and YW how to country dance, and the Rudolphs demonstrated some amazing foot work for all to see! We all had a blast and enjoyed some treats, as well! Mary Buhanan seemed to enjoy her first joint YW activity, and we are so happy to have her as party of the group. She is such a sweet and fun girl, and we love having her as the newest Beehive!
October brought a temple trip, a wonderful stake fireside with an American Idol finalist, the YW Volleyball Tournament, Jewelry Making with Sister Solgere at SIster Posada's home, and Halloween! Some of the youth were able to take party in the ward trunk or treating. We continued the fun in November with a fun joint activity to Sky Zone. In November, we also welcomed our new Beehive advisor, Jesse Nelson. She has been an amazing addition to the Silver Pines Young Women. She even demonstrated her art skills, while drawing her self portrait for the Young Women in Excellence program. Sister Rudolph was in charge, and she had us all do self portraits with pastels. It was a lot of fun, as was the whole YWIE evening. We enjoyed hearing from the parents of the youth, and we also enjoyed delicious treats afterwards! Mmmm--those rice crispy treats were divine!
It's hard to believe the end of the year arrived and Christmas was upon us. The girls really enjoyed their R.A.C.K. activity, which stand for Random Acts of Christmas Kindness. We all met at the church to divide and conquer. We delivered cookies to specific sisters, tagged cars at the temple with notes that said "Thanks or coming to the temple." To top it off, Sister Solgere's random act of kindness was treating everyone to Chic-fil-a desserts. Yum!!
